We went to the doctor on Thursday Oct 1st for Kaylee's one year well visit.
It went well except for the really long waiting times. The vaccines were no walk in the park either.
They offered a total of 7 vaccines!! Only one of them would have been a combo and unfortunately they had run out of that one so she had to get the Hib and dTap separate. I declined Varicella and both the regular and h1n1 flu shot...at least for now. If Kaylee has not caught chicken pox by time she is a teen I will have her vaccinated then. I also had them delay the MMR. I felt that it was to many vaccines all at once for a little body to handle. She got a total of four vaccines. Poor little thing was not a happy camper.
She is growing well. She weighed in at 21 pounds and the nurse measured her at 28.25 inches long. I didn't think that sounded right so I checked when I got home. Her measurement at 9 months was 28.75 inches long so I figured she hadn't shrunk half an inch and re measured Kaylee at home. I got 30 inches on the dot. So she is 21 lbs and 30 inches long. That is 75 percentile in height and 50 percentile in weight.
We have her down to just two bottles a day when she first gets up at 5 am and before bed time. The rest is whole milk or water and occasional juice in a tippy cup, and whatever we are eating..within reason of course.
I have the feeling though that the last two bottles will be around for a while longer. I am having such a hard time getting her to eat. She will try something and act like she loves it, eating the whole portion I give her. But the second or third time I try that same food again she wont even take a single bite of it. I can't find any food that she will eat more than once. *sigh*
Ah the joys of a toddler!
She still keeps me on my toes at ALL times. She recently learned that she can come down the stairs all by herself. And she does it quite well. I posted the video on her picture gallery.
She is getting better at walking and has mastered walking side to side and back words as well. Kaylee also knows how to kick a ball and has fun kicking it back and forth between her and I.
She has been able to shake her head no for a while now but recently mastered yes as well...which is good as I was getting tired of no all the time hehe. Well as always her doctor was impressed with her development both mentally and physically so we were happy about that.
Her next appointment is in 3 months for her 15 month well visit.

One Year Old
So its finally here...the day I have both been dreading and looking forward too. Kaylee is one year old! It's so bitter sweet. She is growing up entirely to fast, but I bet if you ask any mom that about their kids they will tell you the same.
Kaylee sure has hit a lot of big mile stones in this first year and they just keep coming.
I very much look forward to seeing what is in store for us in the future and I can't wait to see what
she surprises me with next! Every day is an adventure with her and I wouldn't change it for the world!
We had her birthday party on Sunday and almost everyone we invited showed up..and then some! It was a fantastic turn out full of friends, family, and loved ones. I thank you all who joined in with us to celebrate our Kaylee bugs big day. I know she had fun and didn't want the day to end. You all truly made her day memorable and enjoyable.

One more month
It is drawing near to the time where my beautiful Kaylee Bria will be turning one! Less than one month. I can hardly believe she is 11 months now! Where has the time gone?
She is walking like a pro now..and has taken up running down the hallway and chasing poor Toby around the living room. She is finally getting used to walking in shoes and she doesn't take them off
immediately anymore. Hopefully I can find a decent pair soon for her.
We recently went to the beach. It was Kaylee's first time. She is a true beach beauty and loved the water, sand and sun.
Kaylee's favorite past time is dancing. She dances anytime there is any music at all. It is so cute!
Her vocabulary now consists of Daddy, Kaylee, Kitty, Mama, Ducky, Doggy, Good girl and a few others. It grows by the day. She also waves goodbye and come here and shakes her head no. I am not quite sure I like the last one. However, it is really hard not to smile and laugh when she does it.
She is a little sponge and soaks up everything she can. It really is incredible.

More Milestones
Kaylee is now 10 months old. Time is passing to quickly! I can not believe how fast her first birthday is approaching. It seems like only a few months have passed since we were coming home from the hospital with brand new baby G.
We had her 9 month appointment a couple weeks ago. It went well! She is growing right on target with a height of 28 3/4 inches long and 19.8 pounds. That means she is in the 80 percentile for height and 50 percentile for weight.
Unfortunately a week after her well baby appointment, we were back at the doctors office. Kaylee came down with Impetigo. Its a staph or strep infection treated with antibiotics. And yes she is doing fine now. But, for a while she was pretty miserable. Almost immediately following the Impetigo she came down with Roseola! She is now 100% better and back to her old self.
Kaylee is finally saying momma!!! She also says ducky, baba, nono and nana(?) as well. So her word repertoire is becoming quite large now.
Now on to the big news....
This morning my baby girl stood up on her own..in the middle of the floor and started WALKING towards me! She took 6 full steps! Wow. She is getting so big so fast!
Okay that is it for now.

Whats new?
Sorry its been so long since I have updated you all on the fabulous life of Kaylee!
She has done a lot of growing and changing since the last update. I can't even believe how much
time has passed. She turned 9 months old today.
Kaylee now has a count of 6 teeth! 4 on the top and 2 on the bottom.
She has her 9 month check up in a couple weeks so I hope to update you all again then on her growth.
Last time I weighed her (two weeks ago) she was 17.4 lbs and was 27.5 inches long.
She is crawling super fast, walking up the stairs, standing on her own and using the walker
to walk. She says a few words now too. Her first word was Kitty at the beginning of May. She also
says Daddy, Doggy and Kaylee quite well. We are still working on Mommy hehe.
Kaylee loves to dance and read her books, but mostly she likes to keep me on my toes and chase Toby. :-)

Getting bigger
It seems like only yesterday that I was blogging about waiting for Kaylee's arrival. Now she is
already 4 months old! Can you believe it? She is getting bigger by the day it seems and developing her own little personality.
She is hitting some pretty big milestones now and the doctor always seems so impressed at her
development. Remarking how ahead of the mark she is. At just 6 days old she was holding her head up without any support, at her two month appointment the doctor commented that she has
never examined a two month old while she sits up on mommies lap. At 3 1/2 months she was rolling over in both directions. She is now singing, "talking", cooing, laughing, smiling, scooting and trying her best to crawl already. She gets her knees up under herself and moves her legs like
she is going somewhere, and she can get on her hands and do a push up...but she hasn't quite figured out how to combine the two moves. Luckily for me! I have the feeling that once she masters crawling I will have my hands even more full than they are now. Yikes!
Kaylee likes to be active and is interested in everything. She loves to watch people in the kitchen and play with her spoons. She also has a fondness for ladybugs. Kaylee enjoys playing and talking to her toes and if she could get them in her mouth she would! Everything goes in her mouth as she is now teething and she chews on everything in sight!
She just had her 4 month doctor appointment last week and is doing well. She now weighs 13 lbs 8 oz and is 25 inches long.
She was waking every 2 to 3 hours at night and not taking naps in the day so the doctor recommended starting her on solids twice a day. For starters I am only trying food once a day and so far it is seeming to help! The past few nights she has slept 7 to 8 hours straight! So far we have tried Barley cereal and sweet potatoes in which she loves both!
So there is Kaylee in a nutshell for this month! I would blog more but she keeps me super busy and I am trying to savor the moments I have with her since she is growing super fast!
until next time!

How Time Flies
My little baby girl is now nine weeks old. Time is both flying by and seeming to stand still at the same time. She still seems so tiny, but is getting bigger every time I look at her. I often go back and look at her pictures from when she was brand new, and I can not believe the difference in size. However, when I see other babies around the same age I can not believe how small she still is.
Kaylee is now hitting the fun age where she is cooing, giggling and grinning. She has so many fun expressions. She has learned the sounds of her daddy's camera and turns her head towards the camera every time she hears it. It is so funny.
We took our first trip with her over Thanksgiving to meet the rest of my side of the family. Of course she was the star of the show. The trip to Arizona was a little rough, but once there, she was fine and liked to interact with everyone. Luckily, the trip back was a little easier on us.
Kaylee had her two month well visit on the eighth. The hardest part was the shots . . . and getting her naked. She now weighs 10.4 pounds and is 23 inches long, putting her in the 25th percentile for her weight and 75th percentile for her height. The doctor was very impressed by her strength when Kaylee practically crawled off the table. She commented that she wasn't used to examining two month old babies while they are sitting up! So, all in all, a good appointment.
I know I don't update this blog as often as I should, since Kaylee still doesn't like to be put down and needs my constant attention. But there are worse things in life. I love being with my little baby girl. I will try to update more often, though.
